Inspired by historical programs, Frances Dhont, Emma Wills and Thomas Boodts recreate a salon concert as it might have been heard in the music rooms of Antwerp during the second quarter of the nineteenth century. Instrumental music alternates with songs by international composers.
Emma Wills performs on a guitar attributed to Marotel (France, c. 1820) from the collection of the Vleeshuis Museum. Thomas Boodts plays a fortepiano by Conrad Graf (Vienna, 1826), also from the collection of the Vleeshuis Museum (on permanent loan from the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp). This CD was recorded on commission from the Vleeshuis Museum.
